Website Marketing Tips
Tip #2: Writing Articles

website marketing  If you haven't had this drilled into your head thus far, now is a good time to stand up and take note.  Writing articles that are keyword-rich for your website as well as for article directories should be a top priority, especially if you're interested in website marketing.

It is very important that when you do write articles, that you make sure it focuses on one or two main keywords per article. This is true regardless of if you are writing for your own website or for an article directory.  You'll be amazed at how much your website marketing efforts will pay off when you focus on this one tiny bit of information.

If you’re unsure of how to start writing articles, here’s a great way to start…

  1. You want to gather one or two keywords related to your website's topic.  Two of my favorite places to get these keywords are A) Keyword Discovery and B) Wordtracker.

While both of these sites provide paid versions, they also offer free versions as well.  You won't get as many keywords to use, but it's great if you are just starting out.

As your site evolves, you'll want to invest in the paid versions of either one of these programs as they'll give you tons of keyword information that you can use which you won't get with the free versions.
  2. Enter in a top-level term that is related to your websites topic.
  3. You'll then be presented with a list of phrases that people are using right now in order to find the kind of product or service you offer.
  4. Pick one of these phrases and write an article around that phrase.  Keep your article to around 300-750 words and place the main keyword or phrase you chose in the title of the article.

You'll also want to scatter this phrase (and variations of it) throughout your article.  Oftentimes this will happen naturally as you write which is exactly how you want the article to read...naturally.
  5. If you don't want to take the time out to do all of this work yourself, consider outsourcing it and hiring a Virtual Assistant or a freelance writer to do it for you.

Just be sure you check out samples of their work before you agree to pay them to write for you to be sure you're getting the quality you expect.

You can also purchase keyword-rich articles through websites that offer these kinds of services.  To a search in Google or your favorite search engine for "your topic" + articles.
  6. Once you're finished writing the article, proofread it and either add it to your website using our quick SEO tips checklist to be sure you hit all the basics, or submit it to an article directory.

One final note, you'll often hear that "article marketing is dead".  Don't believe that for a moment.  Article marketing is still one of the best ways to get your website noticed and is by far one of the best website marketing techniques around.

TIP!

If you choose to submit your article to article directories, you can save a lot of time by using a service such as Article Marketer that will submit your article to hundreds of directories for you at a very low cost.

"There is no reason at all to submit your site to search engines.  The search engines will find you on their own.  Don't pay a company to submit your website as it is not necessary."
