Free
Website Submission
To put it bluntly, don't bother
with any kind of free website
submission.
There are many
online companies that offer to do free website submission for
you. Other companies charge a fee. This fee
can be as little as $5.00 a month to $29.95 a month and even
more.
While the sales pitch might be a good one, the truth is that
search engines will find you on their own without you
having to submit your site, free website submission or
not. Most search engines regularly search the web
for websites and if yours is online and you can reach it by
typing in http://www.YourSite.com, then the search
engines will find you.
So, to bottom line it, there is no reason at all that you
should use free website submission services and least of all,
those that offer website submission for a fee.
The question is, how quickly will they find
your website?
Ahhhh, this is another question all together. But, not
one that warrants paying someone to submit your website for
you.
An easy way to get your website indexed quicker (that is,
faster than sitting around and waiting for the search
engine to find you), is to have a website that is
already indexed link to you.
For example, let’s say that you’ve just finished your brand
new website and you’re anxious to get it indexed in the search
engines.
The best way to get your site found is to have a link to
your site on another website that's already in the search
engines.
There are various ways to do this:
- Write an article and submit it to article
directories. Within your bio area of the article,
place a link to your new website;
- If you regularly visit forums related to the same topic
as your new website, place a link to your site within your
signature tag.
- Do a search in your favorite search engine for "free
advertising". Then advertise your new website on
these free advertising sites.
- Add your site to website directories. While
Yahoo! is the preferred directory, it does cost money each
year. If you don't have that kind of money to spend
($299 / year as of this writing), search for free website
directories to add your site to.
This way, when the search engines pay a visit to this
already-indexed website and finds your link, it will follow
that link to your brand new website and index the pages it
finds there.
